A set of dominos is one of the cheapest and most versatile gaming resources available and perfect educational game.

There are dozens perhaps hundreds of games that can be played using a set of dominos beyond the classic dominos game. The dominos themselves called tiles or bones come in five different kinds of sets all of which can be used to play a wide variety of games.

Another advantage to dominos is that they are small and easy to carry. So you can take them along on vacation or on a long car trip without taking up much space.

Most dominos games are blocking games in which a player tries to block his or her opponents while trying to empty his or her hand. A score maybe determined by counting the number of dominos leftover at the end of the game. This makes dominos a very simple game to learn and to teach to children and are therefore a great educational game.

In scoring games the game is score counted during the game play. Dominos can be played between two players or by teams of players.

If you get bored by regular dominos a quick internet search will reveal hundreds of educational games that you can play with dominos with your family. A few of the most popular include:

* Basic Trains
* Bendomino
* Block
* Chicken Foot
* Cyprus
* Draw which is also referred to as just dominos,
* Maltese Cross
* Matador
* Mexican Train
* Rivers Roads & Rails
* Sebastopol
* Bergen
* Muggins (or All Five Up) and
* Spinner.

This means that it’s very hard to get bored while playing dominos because there’s always a new game you can play.

There are also other games that you can play using dominos including Five Up, 42, Bingo, Concentration and Double Five. Some of these games use cards which can add fun to the play.

A very basic game that is sure to amuse younger children and keep them busy for hours is to simply line dominos up in a long line and knock them down. Several dominos sets can keep children entertained all day doing this if they have a room big enough to set up all the dominos and knock them down.

Another reason why dominos can be regarded as an educational game is because it is a great way to teach children basic math and counting skills. Since the kids have to count the dominos and keep score they have to employ math at home while having fun. This lets the kids practice their math without getting bored or tired by Disney kids games.

A good way to teach children about Asian culture is to teach them the classic Chinese game Mahjong which is very similar to dominos. Learning Mahjong and playing it is a good way to introduce children to another culture without the formal education but using an educational games instead.

Dominos maybe the best gaming bargain around. A couple of sets can provide years of entertaining and educational play for the entire family.

I haven't played dominos in quite awhile. In fact I completely forgot about them. Good basic game! Think I'll go buy me some.
